Professors Easton and Gerstbauer attend PJSA meetings in Winnipeg, Canada Posted on October 7th, 2010 by

The Peace and Justice Studies Association (PJSA) is a national conference of peace studies educators (mostly college, but also K-12) and some activists.

This year’s theme was “Building Bridges, Crossing Borders: Gender Identity, and Security in the Search for Peace”.

Featured speakers included women who pioneered thinking about women, peace and the war system, such as Betty Reardon and Cynthia Enloe.  We also heard from Chief Ovide Mercredi, and began the conference at the Thunderbird House, a sacred space for aboriginal peoples in Winnipeg.  The conference was hosted by the University of Winnipeg’s Global College and Menno Simons College.  And, Winnipeg is a lovely Canadian city of the plains, with about 700,000 people representing many cultures.

This would be a great conference to  have students regularly attend!
