Death Toll Increases as Conflict in Western Sahara Continues Posted on November 8th, 2010 by

Security force entrance into a Saharawi camp turned fatal after Saharawi inhabitants turned violent. While there were only a few deaths, foreign minister Mohamed Salem Ould Salek claimed that hospitals were full following the raid. Violence such as this is not new to the area as conflict between the Moroccan government and the Polisario have continued for some time now. Hamoudi Eklide, head of the Moroccan human rights organization stated, “The current situation is dangerous and unstable and will lead to major violations of human rights.” Should the Polisario be granted their independence?
