MLK day 2011 – Bernard Lafayette Posted on January 19th, 2011 by

It was quite fun to host the FIRST director of the Gustavus Peace Studies program (then known as the Peace Education program) as our Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial lecture speaker this year. The college news office has a nice feature on the college website, with video and photos. Check it out! Lafayette reminisced about his time at Gustavus and told a few stories of the civil rights movement. He also encouraged students to find an issue to explore in-depth and to realize that non-violence applies even to our relations with family and friends. How do we treat those closest to us?
